Are you carrying around a ton of business cards or you have them sitting on your desk at the office and so you don't have the number handy when you need it when you're out? Have you looked at some options for scanning cards but find them too expensive? There is an economical solution that is working for me at Savvy Senior Training, it enables me to quickly scan business cards with good recognition then sync them to Outlook and online and to our phones.
Cardscan v8 is an affordable option for scanning business cards.
Used in conjunction with the Scanbizcards app on your phone you have a complete solution. Your total investment will be about $70 or less used (cardscan units are available used on Amazon and Ebay).
Here is what you need:
1) Cardscan v8 from Amazon or Ebay
Make sure you buy the correct model as the previous model scans black and white only and will not work on Windows 7 or later.
2) Websync and Cardscan sync software
Websync is the cloud that syncs across all your devices. You need an account for this.
Cardscan sync utility - this enables syncing of cards that you have scanned with the Cardscan to the Websync cloud which then syncs them to your phone and cards are backed up on the Websync server.
3) Scanbizcards app from Appstores
these apps allow you to scan cards by taking a picture on your phone and cards you have scanned on the computer sync to the Scanbizcards app (websync software needed).
Scanning with the Cardscan
Scanning cards with the Cardscan unit is fast and simple. It works on Windows 7 and Window 8 and connects to your computer via USB. The software recognizes the text on most cards very well, putting them into the correct fields and you can make any corrections needed easily.
ScancardBiz App on the Phone
You can also scan cards directly from your phone by taking a picture from within the ScancardBiz app. You can search your cards and share them with others via email and other options. Card information can be added to your phone contacts.
